The missing Dutch girls in Panama
This is part 2 with photos of the girls' bedroom, the swimming photo and other news, ideas and updates
19 March 2019 - When I tried to make some sense out of this disappearance case back in 2018/2019, there was on the one hand very limited public information with regards to what actually happened to Kris and Lisanne, and on the other hand a lot of journalistic work done on the matter which had not been highlighted at all. It was clear that the story had some gaping holes and that there was conflicting information out there. I have tried to shine a light on all this publicly available info about the disappearance of Kris and Lisanne and I tried to bring all this scattered information together here. I also tried to broaden the narratives about what may have happened to them accordingly. In the hope that when more people know about this case, chances would increase that we'd ever find more facts and answers.

In part 1 of this blog series I tried to shed light on all the facts and details currently known in this case and I added source links wherever possible to back things up. I also illustrated some theories that are out there about what may have happened to them. And I tried to highlight the problems with each and every one of those theories. Once we have all the facts (as they are known at the moment; a lot of information is still missing), we can all come to our own conclusions for now. In this part 2, I present new photos, new evidence and other important views and additions to the investigation of this case. I also explain some of my own (subjective) suspicions at the bottom of the page. I happen to have more questions and issues with the accident theory than with a crime theory, and I explained why, but that is just an opinion. Panamanian officials got some slack for stating that the girls must have drowned, or had fallen into a ravine, or were killed by wild animals. Because main prosecutor Betzaida Pitti, led by corrupt Ana Belfon; the highest boss of the Public Prosecution service, never provided any conclusive proof for this. Even some of Panama's own journalists didn't buy the official reading of events, as they didn't see or hear of any forensic evidence to back the official claim up. In fact, science seems to contradict some aspects of the official scenario. Despite months, years actually of investigation, the best we were given by officials was the bare statement that they had an accident and got lost (having fallen in the river, or off a cliff, or were attacked by animals). Inconsistencies and contradicting forensic evidence were not explained. This is why the whole discussion machinery was set in motion and why it is still in motion. A journalist in Panama, Adelita Coriat, has done a lot of investigation and spoke to people who did the forensic work and autopsy in this case - you can read a handful of her articles below in this blog post. She is also doubtful of the official reading. One scientist involved leaked the case file to an American investigative journalist, Jeremy Kryt from the Daily Beast, who changed his own opinion on the case after that. First he defended the accident scenario, but after in-depth investigation - also in Boquete itself - he wrote new articles in which he explained why he felt evidence is pointing towards a crime in this case, after all. Nevertheless, there is a lot to say against a crime scenario too, so it is up to everyone personally to form his or her own opinion. And hopefully with global interest in this case now, new and more detailed evidence comes up soon, detailing better what really happened to Kris and Lisanne.
